Sarah, my mom is praying for your brother Stephen. She is praying for him to be 100% better and to be non-Bible-belt about it, is adding that once he is, he should get to have lots of non-married sex and sleep in on Sunday morning.

it's so very interesting that I am so worried about this genteleman when I have never met you or anyone in your family! I can't stop thinking about this brother of yours and what happened and if he is okay, it literally kept me up last night as if I am part of the family. it must be somewhat comforting (or creepy) that you have all these internet 'family members' out here to support you in your glory and times of challenge. thanks for including us! give him a big hug and let him know all these people are pulling for him.

Seriously, though, that is great. I'm relieved for you guys.

posted by Em on June 7, 2005 at 12:53 PM

Oh my god, what happened?? Did he fall off the roof or something? I'm so glad he's on the bright side of it now. Jesus. There's nothing like a hospital scare to put us all on alert. I'm glad he's up and at 'em again. *love*

posted by styro on June 7, 2005 at 01:45 PM

Long time lurker, first time (maybe second?) commenter - I'm very glad to hear your brother's doing better. Googling 'fractured skull and blood clot' didn't really do much but it did reassure me that it probably (hopefully!) wasn't as severe as those scary words would make it seem. Keep your chin up.

posted by amy on June 7, 2005 at 01:46 PM

so so glad that your brother is doing better Sarah.

posted by Jess on June 7, 2005 at 01:46 PM

Oh Thank God. Big sigh of relief. Best wishes to all of your family.

posted by Athena714 on June 7, 2005 at 02:01 PM

I *do* pray, so I said a little prayer before writing this. As a Christian, I believe speaking out the words of the bible actually has power, so here goes: 2 Chronicles 6:35, "then hear from heaven their prayer and their plea, and uphold their cause." Cast your worries upon Him, Sarah, for He hears you and He cares for you. And God is hearing all these prayers from people who read your site, so He will uphold their cause.

posted by Heather#2 on June 7, 2005 at 02:04 PM

I'm glad he's doing better, although I didn't see the post until now. Hopefully, he'll just have a story about another cool scar and be good as sorta new.

He fell off a mountain bike and landed on his head. After deciding that it would be a good idea to ride a mountain bike down a flight of concrete stairs into a parking lot.

warmest thoughts and get well soon.....

Now that you've posted the news that Stephen Brown is much better, I hope it's okay to ruefully chuckle and shake my head with a little smile on my face when I think about your daredevil brother riding his bike down concrete steps. Seriously, that dude has no fear.

posted by jana on June 7, 2005 at 03:44 PM

That dude needs to get some fear. Also, some sense.

posted by Sarah B. on June 7, 2005 at 03:52 PM

posted by ctrent on June 7, 2005 at 05:01 PM

Glad to hear your brother is feeling better. Still praying for him, though. On a side note-that first picture of him playing rock paper scissors totally looks like he's really getting into his groove with some light jazz music.

stay well. both of you.

posted by the mighty jimbo on June 7, 2005 at 06:49 PM

I'm a sometimes reader of this site. I wasn't going to say anything (I don't think I've commented here before), until I read that all this is about a bike accident.

Funny... that alone made me identify with him and with you (SB) more, since I'm a mountain biker (urban and in the woods). I do hope he recovers soon.

posted by Nico on June 7, 2005 at 07:42 PM

I cannot read about your brother without picturing Paul "The Rooster" Sedaris.

I'm glad he's well.
Send him a helmet.
And knee pads.
And one of those electric collars that only allows him to go to school, work, home, and select bars without sending a shock down his spine powerful enough to knock him out.

posted by Danielle on June 7, 2005 at 08:09 PM

My first thought was "My fiance!" And then I realized that I only know Stephen Brown over a second hand account on the INTERNET!

I was still upset and a little bit worried for my sanity.

I'm glad he's better.

posted by Kimothy on June 7, 2005 at 09:20 PM

he sounds like he needs a good spanking once he is well. glad to hear everything will be ok.

now that he's almost recovering, can you please slap some sense into him? i have a brother 2.5 years younger. sometimes I think younger brothers exist to make us laugh our asses off and then make us want to kill them for said funny things when they seriously hurt themselves or go to jail, or something. here's to bouncing back and sibling love. i'm thinking of you two.

posted by SarahT on June 8, 2005 at 03:51 AM

As someone whos skull has been smooshed, I feel Stephen's pain. But, like me, I'm sure he'll be back good as new and impressing girls with Kinks-y vinyl very, very soon.

Oh man, did somebody just call Stephen "The Rooster?" Maybe he needs a fuck-it bucket!
