Mazel tov, friend. I'm so thrilled for you.

Marcus and I also got married twice, for very similar reasons. In fact, we both wear two wedding bands (silver) on purpose, because of this fact. :)

As for which anniversary to celebrate, we actually celebrate both. Because dammit, if you're going to get married twice, you oughta be able to celebrate twice.

And also? Merry merry Christmas to the two of you. May you have a lifetime of happiness together.

Congratulations! What a happy celebration and such wonderful photos to remember your special day(s). I've been reading your blog for YEARS now, and I must say, even though I know it's not the end of your blog, and it's just the beginning of your life with Nick, I feel like this is such a 'happy ending'! I got all choked up and cried (happy tears) at the end of this posting because of the joy on both of your faces in the pictures.

Best wishes and many happy returns! Congratulations! And Merry Christmas, too!

Congratulations!! In the week leading up to my wedding in Central Park last year there was rain every day. There was rain the morning of our wedding and rain every day the week that followed, but for for the hour before the wedding and for the rest of the day, there was a break in the rain, the sun came out and we had a beautiful afternoon. I'm so happy you had the same great luck and wonderful wedding with friends and family. (We had two weddings, too, and it was double the fun and love). Congrats and Merry Christmas!

Congratulations, you two! I just read most of this post aloud to my husband, and he was all "wait, could we have just gone to a park and done it that way?" We got married young, ten years ago, and our wedding was pretty much dictated by our moms. Lame. You guys did it much better.

Although we had lavender, too...did it hurt? I remember getting pelted with the sharpish business end of some lavender buds and being like OW GEEZ OW.

Awesome job, guys, way to knock it out the park on third down and six in the ninth inning stretch (is that right? I feel terribly British on here:)

We also had the rain problem and guess what? It cleared up half an hour before our ceremony too. Always a good sign :)

Much love from SE6 x

My best friend has shared your blog with me throughout the past year. How I understand you!

As a European woman I have had to jump through so many hoops to marry my American guy! I also married twice - once at City Hall (with just my in laws), the other time back in Europe in a ceremony performed by the 2 of us + my friends (hey, we were already married, we could do whatever we wanted : ), together with friends and family. We thought of doing a 3rd ceremony with the rest of the friends over here but decided we were "weddinged out".

I was really happy to hear that you finally got to marry your guy. Good luck with your plans! I wish you both loads of happiness. Congratulations and blessings.

How beautiful. So touching. And your grandmother's bonnet has inspired me. My mother died a few months before my daughter was born, but not before she purchased one or two outfits for her future first grandchild.

I think I'm going to take one of those outfits and make it into something wedding-y for my sister and my daughter to eventually use in their weddings, and to pass down the line.

Thanks again for the post and the idea and congratulations on your marriage! What a wonderful couple you are!

Sarah B.
I've been reading your blog since the time i started writing my own and i loved it so much that theres a link to your blog on my left hand menu at #3 right under the link to my photos :)
the one i loved the most was the one you wrote about Longing (27th Dec 2003) and the comments that followed were AMA-zing :) pasted it below so the newbies can enjoy it...

am really happy you found that one person that said that one thing in the right place at the right time... Congratulations :)

Longing
For the past few days, I’ve been formulating this theory. My theory is that for almost every single person on the planet, there’s this one sentence, and that almost every single person on the planet believes that if this one sentence was said to them by the right person at the right place or at the right time or with the right words, everything the person longed for would come true, and their life would right itself, or start an entirely new and glorious path, and they’d finally be happy.

Of course, I know this one magic sentence won’t really do all of that, but I still think almost every single person on the planet hopes to hear it, and that’s partly the thing that keeps them alive.

So I want to hear some sentences. Feel free to be anonymous.

My 13-year old stepson and I have adopted your theory on "janices" and nary a week goes by that he does not describe some schoolmate as "you know, a 'janice'." We have even turned it into a verb and I'll often tell him I've been "janiced" at church by this person or that person, because you know how churches are just FULL of janices. So we miss you for sure but we hope your life is full and happy.
