Congratulations, Sarah.
You is a for real writer.

I noticed that the Cringe book site doesn't mention the release.

Yeah, pay no attention to the Cringe book site until it gets updated later today.

But thank you!

I am kind of bummed that I pre-ordered mine online because now I have to wait for it to come. Maybe I will just have to buy two.

Happy Book Day, Sarah! I am so happy and proud for you.

That's beautiful.

Hooray!!! "Buy my book" is a pretty terrific thing to be able to say, especially when it turns into "buy my FIRST, or SECOND, book" and so on—!

That link for Millie is so good.

For New Yorkers, it's currently shelved upstairs in the Union Square Barnes & Noble. While I took a couple of copies, there were still a few left as of 10:00am this morning.

Congratulations!!!

What are the odds of having four Erins in the book?

posted by Erin on August 26, 2008 at 11:42 AM

Almost as good as having a Joshua Neuman and a Joshua Newman.

Also, Tracy Carr! Woo Hoo!

HAPPY BOOK RELEASE DAY! I'm so excited for you that I could cry. Eh, maybe I will. And then I'll write some really bad poetry about it while listening to Soul Asylum and wearing my flannel shirt.

Congratulations Sarah. I rushed over to Borders across the street from my work after verifying it was "likely in store" on the web site. It was not out on the shelves yet, but you can be assured I'll be going back until they're available.

I can't stop telling you how proud I am to know you, or how proud I am of this book. I'm, like, stalking you with praise. So why stop now! Congratulations, sweet.

Yeah, I feel like I should add: this book is definitely PG-13, possibly rated R, depending on where you stand in regards to BJs.

posted by Sarah Brown on August 26, 2008 at 01:42 PM

Up to # 20 in humor => self help on amazon. Awesome. I am definatly pro BJ. ordered mine this morning. congratulations.

I usually don't "stand" for BJs. Better technique not to.

Fucking congratulations!

posted by Jessica on August 26, 2008 at 02:57 PM

Wow, didn't even know that you "knew" Kristine. She is hilarious and it's great that she's in the book.

Congrats, nice blog lady. Much deserved.

posted by Christine on August 26, 2008 at 05:11 PM

Are there any 'send it to you for signature' opportunities available? 'Twas the only thing keeping me from pre-ordering it.

@evany: I'm still laughing at "muffled" - you a funny lady

Hey Sarah, I'm delurking after spending a few months reading through your archives. I don't want that to sound crazy, I swear!! I just dig the way you write. SWF I am not! I think I stumbled upon you via Mighty Girl or Dooce. Anyways, I just had emerge and send a big congratulations to you on the book release! I'm getting it tomorrow at Powell's here in Portland, and I can't wait to read it.
Again, not to sound creepy, but I feel a crazy kismet connection to you. The random similarities we have are uncanny; from the ability to identify celeb voiceovers within seconds, to our freakishly similar hands - I've found my hand twin!! We also look alike and I've had far too many "holy shit someone else feels/does/thinks that exact same thing too!?!" moments while reading. In short, you rock and I really enjoy your blog, and I can't wait to dive into Cringe. Keep it up, I'll be reading!!
P.S. You also broke me of a ridiculous hang up I'd been dealing with for years: the annoying gifted child syndrome. I have seen the light. It's ridiculous, moot, and downright tacky. I shall never mention it again. I mean, I'm a genius now, that's all that matters. Obvs.

Hi Sarah,

As a new reader of your blog, I was reading through some of your archives, and saw how much you like baby elephants. I thought I'd let you know that the Oregon Zoo has a new baby elephant (only a few days old), and the zoo website has lots of pictures. Also, the local paper's website (www.oregonlive.com) has some video footage. Just thought you might want to check it out to get your baby elephant fix.

I can't wait to read this -- I'm heading on a trip tomorrow so I will look for it on my lunch hour, perfect plane reading! Congrats again, SB!!!

Oh man, so happy and giggling and happy-dayed for you. BJ's (& HJ's) all around!

posted by Helen Jane on August 27, 2008 at 07:23 PM

I bought my copy this morning before work and I have to admit I kept making excuses to go to my car today and read it! I'm the boss at a pretty big company and I totally spent at least 45 minutes in my car reading your book. I should be fired and you should be given another book deal. Seriously, my laugh out loud count had to be around 23.

P.S.I so would have dated teenage Jay Carlson for his funny post it notes alone.

I pre-ordered the book, and it came today. Tonight has been filled with southern comfort, and reading aloud to my friends in my building. I AM IN LOVE. Thank you for bringing Cringe to the world.....

DC totally needs a Cringe. Can you imagine the crap that would come out of this city?

posted by Kris on August 27, 2008 at 10:35 PM

Hurray, thank you! And Cringe is coming to DC in September, on the book tour!

posted by Sarah Brown on August 27, 2008 at 10:37 PM

OH my goodness! I bought the book today, where it was nicely displayed at the Barnes and Noble on Warren St in Tribeca. I read it while at work a little, and then almost finished it on the train back to Brooklyn. So, so funny. Excellent job, Ms. Brown. Thanks for the laughs.

posted by Alyson on August 28, 2008 at 01:26 AM

You have to tell us what day you are coming to DC! All my dreams are coming true, etc.

posted by Nicole on August 28, 2008 at 10:48 AM

My oldest friend and I found your book in the Tulsa B&N last night and loved loved it. Also, we discovered that her sister was also on Pep Squad at Byrd/Memorial. And still has that creepy penguin you're posing with.
Kinda cool that someone from home did this...inspiring and wonderful. Congrats, congrats.
