I remember that strange excitement when I found something--like a zine--that seemed literate and groovy in my seemingly backward hometown but I never had the gumption to go for it like you did.
Yay, Sarah. Your writing is addictive. I would read anything by you. I'm sure your notes to housemates are even of high literary quality.
I'm sure your agent is amazing and this makes me sound like a curmudgeon but what is this with the personal anecdote thing at the end of the list of professional accomplishments? I'm a professor and all my fellow professors do this. Like "He recently was awarded an NEH grant to study consciousness. He's interested in functional accounts of the mind and he makes a mean caesar salad." Argh. Make it stop. I don't even have a website, what with the female glamour shots and the 'peppery soup/addiction to solitaire' references.
Oh, God. I'm so sorry. I just had to tell someone. I'll buy your friends book as penance. (I'm sure it is very interesting! But I won't just check it out from the library.)
By the way, Kansas just won some sports thing. It's on my NY Times news alerts.
Sarah, this is truly awesome writing :-)
Wow. I had totally forgotten about Me Head. I would come across one or two every once in awhile on campus at OU.
